The Forest Hill Traders’ Association has always been proud to support the community in SE23, and when the Library was threatened with being put into private hands we were opposed to the decision and wrote letters and attended meetings to try and get the council to reverse the process. However it became apparent, after months of negotiation and protests, that the library would follow the same path as libraries before it in Sydenham, Crofton Park and Blackheath, and be transferred to the community model.
There is no better example of a active and capable community than that of Forest Hill, so along with The Forest Hill Society, members of the community and V22 (who have done such a good job at neighbouring Louise House), we made a bid to run the library ourselves, which thankfully was successful. From October 17th 2016 we will be running Forest Hill Library and looking for the help of the residential and business community to support us to make this the best library in South London.
The Friends of Forest Hill Library
The FHTA has built a new web site for the library and members and non-members of the FHTA alike have joined forces to provide a discount card for anyone joining The Friends of Forest Hill Library. This means all Friends of the library can present their card at a number of shops in town and receive a discount. More details are available on the Forest Hill Library web site – join today!
